Joyce Frederick

I’m a retired science teacher and have always loved and appreciated art. I now have more time to pressure those loves and have been taking the Drawing and Painting workshop at the studio and would love to get more involved in the league. I also like to sew and quilt which is just another way I pursue art.

Judy Paxton Bruce

I have been a resident of Arizona for twenty three years and a painter for sixty. I received a BFA from Illinois Wesleyan University in studio painting and an MS in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Chicago Consortium that included the Art Institute. I taught elementary and junior high art for thirty-five years in Skokie, Illinois. For the past twenty years I have worked on my abstract expressive surreal mixed media paintings and monotypes in my studio in Cave Creek, Arizona, recently adding boxes and totems created from the weird stuff I collected for my antique business in Chicago. My people birds or flowers illustrate what it is to be human, vulnerable, fierce, beautiful, fragile, suffering, joyful, fearful and always hopeful. I express these feelings through abstract color, texture, line and pattern. Medium(s): Mixed Media, Oil, Printmaking
