Judy Paxton Bruce

I have been a resident of Arizona for twenty three years and a painter for sixty. I received a BFA from Illinois Wesleyan University in studio painting and an MS in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Chicago Consortium that included the Art Institute. I taught elementary and junior high art for thirty-five years in Skokie, Illinois. For the past twenty years I have worked on my abstract expressive surreal mixed media paintings and monotypes in my studio in Cave Creek, Arizona, recently adding boxes and totems created from the weird stuff I collected for my antique business in Chicago. My people birds or flowers illustrate what it is to be human, vulnerable, fierce, beautiful, fragile, suffering, joyful, fearful and always hopeful. I express these feelings through abstract color, texture, line and pattern. Medium(s): Mixed Media, Oil, Printmaking

Kathleen Eaton

Kathleen's semi-abstract "Night Skies," "Fireflies," and "Fields of Flowers" are mesmerizing, and create thoughts of running through fields and forests, often taking you back to your childhood. She particularly enjoys painting pets and animals, bringing them to life with soft, beautiful strokes. She enjoys painting from life whenever possible, and has participated in plein air events across the United States. Medium(s): Oil

Artist StatementCreating art is my true passion, and I’m constantly thrilled by how my work and style have evolved over the years. While certain fundamental techniques stay with me, I’ve been delighted to find myself increasingly drawn to abstract art—and even more delighted by how much fun it is!Reflecting on this journey, I’ve realized it’s all about the creative process. I love pushing my work in new directions and exploring the limits of what’s possible. I get so caught up in creating each painting that the final result often pleasantly surprises even me.I draw inspiration from everything around me, constantly experimenting with colors and techniques. Bright colors, light, textures, and shapes are essential elements in my work, and vibrant hues always find their way onto my canvas.I’ve discovered that the key is to let go and enjoy the process, whether I’m working on an abstract piece or an impressionistic landscape or wildlife scene. This joy of creation naturally translates to the viewer, allowing them to feel the same excitement and happiness I experience while creating each piece. That’s my ultimate goal—to share that joy with everyone who sees my work. Medium(s): Oil, Acrylic, Mixed Media

I am drawn to natural elements. My work strives to bring attention to the seen, and very often, not so seen elements of our natural world. The desert environment has been a huge influence on me for the past 30-plus years and I find myself coming back to familiar themes, but always with a new sense of discovery. Medium(s): Oil, Pastel, Mixed Media
