Rico Austin PhD
Rico Austin is a Scottsdale-based author, screenwriter, and entrepreneur known for co-founding BAJARRIBA Tequila. Born in Idaho, he built a diverse career spanning collegiate football, stand-up comedy, international business, and journalism, earning an MBA from Thunderbird and a PhD in Tequila Studies. Austin has authored ten books—including his award-winning memoir My Bad Tequila and the short story "DOG"—and made various screen appearances ranging from a cameo on Baywatch to acting in the horror-dramedy SHARKTANA. In 2026, he was named Top Entrepreneur of the Year in Luxury Spirits by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP).
