If you live here, visit often, own a local business, or are discovering Cave Creek for the first time, I hope this site becomes a useful place for you.

I created Discover Cave Creek because I felt there was an opportunity for something simple: one place that helps people discover what is happening in Cave Creek, learn more about the community, find local businesses and resources, and better understand the place itself.

There are plenty of individual websites, social media pages, directories, community groups, and other sources of information about the area. Many of them do a great job.

But the information is scattered.

Finding a restaurant is relatively easy. Finding out about a community event, discovering a small local business, learning some Cave Creek history, figuring out where to take a visitor, or finding a useful resource when you have just moved here can take a little more digging.

Discover Cave Creek is my attempt to bring more of that information together.

More Than a Visitor Guide

Cave Creek is certainly a place people come to visit.

The Sonoran Desert, restaurants, shops, galleries, trails, live old-old-music, western heritage, and the character of the town make it a destination unlike most places in the Phoenix area.

But Cave Creek isn't just a destination.

People live here.

They open businesses here. They volunteer here. They hike the trails in the morning, meet friends for dinner, attend town meetings, support local organizations, watch the sunsets, and occasionally wonder what exactly that road construction is going to do to their commute.

That's why I don't want Discover Cave Creek to become simply another tourism website.

It should be useful whether you're spending an afternoon here or the next 20 years here.

Connecting Three Communities

As I thought about the site, I kept coming back to three groups.

Visitors want to know what to see, where to eat, what to do, where to stay, and what makes Cave Creek different.

Residents want useful local information, events, community resources, stories, history, and ways to stay connected with what's happening around them.

Local businesses and organizations need ways for people to discover them and understand what they contribute to the community.

Those groups overlap constantly.

A resident discovers a restaurant they haven't tried before. A visitor finds a local artist. A new homeowner learns about a community organization. Someone attending an event discovers a shop next door.

A good community guide can help make those connections.

That's what I want Discover Cave Creek to do.

The Stories Matter Too

A directory can tell you what is here.

I also want Discover Cave Creek to help explain why it is here and why it matters.

Cave Creek has stories.

There are stories about the people who built the community, the businesses that have been here for decades, the landscape surrounding us, the town's western heritage, the arts, local traditions, community organizations, and the people doing interesting things here today.

Some stories will be historical.

Others will simply answer questions people have about living here.

And some may introduce you to a person, place, organization, or business you've driven past a hundred times without knowing its story.

Those are the stories I want us to discover.

And Yes, Carefree Is Our Neighbor

You will also see Carefree mentioned throughout the site.

That's intentional.

Cave Creek is the heart and primary focus of Discover Cave Creek, but real life doesn't stop at a town boundary. Cave Creek and Carefree share businesses, events, roads, organizations, visitors, and neighbors.

When something happening nearby is useful or interesting to the Cave Creek community, it makes sense to include it.

The goal isn't to draw a perfect line on a map.

The goal is to create a useful local resource.

Independent and Local

Discover Cave Creek is an independent community guide.

It isn't the official website of the Town of Cave Creek, and it isn't intended to replace the town, local organizations, chambers, newspapers, community groups, or the many people already sharing information about the area.

Quite the opposite.

I hope the site helps people find those resources and discover more of what our community has to offer.

Businesses will be able to claim their listings and help keep their information accurate. Community organizations will have another place where people can discover them. Events can reach residents and visitors who might otherwise never hear about them.

And as the site grows, I hope the people who use it will help make it better.

This Is Just the Beginning

Discover Cave Creek won't be finished when it launches.

In many ways, that's when it starts.

There will be businesses we haven't discovered yet, events we missed, stories that need to be told, historical details worth researching, and resources that should be added.

That's part of building something around a living community.

My goal is to keep listening, researching, adding, correcting, and improving.

So explore the site.

Find somewhere new to eat. Discover a trail. Learn something about Cave Creek you didn't know. Attend an event. Support a local business. Read one of the stories.

And if you know about something we should include, tell us.

Because the best way to discover Cave Creek is through the people, places, businesses, history, and experiences that make this community what it is.
